History

Women, youth, and children are the most vulnerable to the challenges in society and yet have the potential to bring the most positive impact. The Founders of WOVIA recognised a great need to reach out to women and youth who faced several challenges including poverty, hunger, no education, early childhood pregnancies, domestic violence, drug addiction to name a few.

WOVIA has since then engaged in several activities to resolve these issues including, establishment of social ventures that have enabled women and youth work and gain the experience needed to be employed or start their own businesses. Other activities have included training young women in pottery, tailoring and soap making and other activities to empower them to start their own businesses. This was done with the understanding that when a person is engaged in meaningful work, they are empowered to make good decisions concerning their lives; women are enabled to provide for their families, educate their children, develop confidence and a place in society. WOVIA is restoring destinies and giving life to disadvantaged groups in our society.
